i-google, ping,43 Marks, All my Favs

These tools customise home pages so that in theory all the social networking sites, email etc that you use are all kept together so that you can access them easily. I have decided not to create a home page using these tools because I have signed up to so many different web devices in the last few weeks for learning 2.1 and I am a little afraid now of security so I will look at things for now on and learn about them but not add my details to them. I feel much more comfortable with this. Many of the things I was signing up for were not relevant to my needs at the moment. These needs will one day will change and I may then be willing to sign up. If you were a very organised person and had lots of spare time these tools would be fantastic. If a library customer were to ask me about these I feel I have the knowledge to explain these to them. Mossman Library Ning

I enjoyed looking at Mossman Library's Ning. It was very busy in content but all the content related to a public library so it was interesting to see how it was all put together.

Nings and Hackers

This week on Library 2.1 we looked ast Nings which are a mix of blogs, wikis and forums. I joined the Library 2.0 Ning (not run by the State Library) and that very same week the ning was dismantled (is that the word) due to hackers interfereing in the ning. This is a very real problem I'm wondering how many of these nings, blogs etc have to be abandoned because of hackers. Molly

A new beginning

I have commenced Library 2.1 and I must admit that I haven't looked at this blog very much since the 2.0 course. many of the things I learnt in the 2.0 course were forgotten so I feel I badly need a refresher course. Over the Christmas holidays I went away with a group of people young middle aged. The topic of Face book and blogs arose. They were all very surprised that I had a Blog and a Facebook and a Twitter account ( which I don't use). I realise now the need to stay with it all as the younger members of the group all new what was happening but the middle aged members couldnt see a need for all that!!! I must get back into blogging. I am a little isolated with my work so I will have to find some peoples blogs to look at. Molly

Learning 2.0- The completion

I have now completed Learning 2.0. I look forward to going over all the content and studying it in more detail and having a little help in the areas I still have no idea on how to utilise correctly but what a great introduction this has been to the world out there of online freebies. Molly
